Jean-Mathias Petri plays Tissages for Flutes and Logelloop

Jean-Mathias Petri composed this musical suite in 6 movements using Logelloop to loop and transform the sound of his Alto and Octobasse flutes.

The breath of the flutes is interwoven with Logelloop’s digital breath, forming the sound fabric of a music in motion, with diverse and changing colors.

Logelloop, a real-time electroacoustic sound creation tool, sometimes replicates the flute, sometimes blends into its sonorities like a double. The flute, sometimes confronted and sometimes reinforced by this new environment, gives voice to a new dressing, a kind of metamorphosis of the sounds in its vast palette.

TISSAGES is a set of six short pieces, with evocative names, in which the thread of the flute’s breath, interwoven with Logelloop’s digital breath, forms the sound fabric of a music in motion, with diverse and changing colors.

Logelloop, a real-time digital sound creation tool, sometimes replicates the flute, sometimes blends into its sonorities like a double. The flute, sometimes confronted by the digital, sometimes reinforced by this new environment, can then give voice to a new dressing, a kind of metamorphosis of the sounds in its vast palette.

1 – Weaves and braids: The alto flute’s murmurs rise through the air like skeins of raw wool, towards a canon of breaths.
2 – Slings: Here, the oboe flute evokes the slings of sailing ships, snapping in the wind and criss-crossing the air.
3 – Cliquetis: Over a polyrhythm of keys, the octobass flute unwinds its layers of strange sounds.
4 – Chaînages: Melodies interweave in counterpoint in an atmosphere made humoresque and strange by Logelloop.
5 – Patchwork: A collective dance in the form of a nod to minimalist music played by a single alto flute.
6 – Fils tendus: Towards the serenity of the end of the day…

This musical suite is dedicated to my mother Elisabeth Menzi, author of several series of paintings created with weaving.
