For her first live-looping creation, Marthe Vassallo – one of the most recognised and unpredictable voices on the Breton scene – puts a Lewis Carroll poem into dialogue with a few nuggets from oral tradition. The Devil quarrels with the Good Lord over a potato harvest, the birds refuse to fetch the youths that have fled, little Alice has grown up… And in the course of what the singer herself describes as ‘a piece for sung voice, Logelloop and melancholy Care Bears’ we hear the farewell to childhood, the wound of nostalgia, and the indestructible power of stories, memories and imagination.
