Tom WhistonMember
I restarted my computer to try to make sure everything was working properly but sadly no luck. I did note though that if I turn the Master output to 3 and 4 then my fx channel routings can be heard, but when the masters are changed back to 1 and 2 then output stops again. Does that provide any clues? If not I’ll get in touch and we can have a call, thank you very much for the offer!
Tom WhistonMemberThe second one, unfortunately, is too slow even if I get my foot off the pedal as fast as I can physically manage! The first mode with a note off added by a max patch works perfectly thought and solves all my problems except the lit LED when in recording state, as the board does not accept midi in messages and expects to do this via it’s ‘toggle’ mode
Tom WhistonMemberThe midi feedback is a great addition, thank you 🙂 What I meant by ‘latching’ was the behaviour of some midi controllers in what is usually either called latching or toggle states, in this state the controller outputs cc/note with 127 value when turning on (and usually lights an LED on the controller) and then on the next press outputs the cc/note with a value of 0 (and usually deactivates the light on the controller), but I realize now that because of the need to make a distinction between short and long presses in logelloop this is not really possible.
Tom WhistonMemberI was also very surprised that the controller did not send notes!
If I had to choose between being able to control korpus with cc’s and the original topic of midi latching for visual feedback on buttons I would definitely choose the latching because I can work around cc’s to notes with a max patch.Tom WhistonMemberI was just using midipipe to be fast/lazy but I can make a max patch. The issue is really the board because it has 3 modes for each switch
1. single which just sends a cc at 127 value
2. momentary which sends cc 127 when you press and 0 when you release
3. toggle which sends 127 when you first push it and 0 the next timemomentary mode is too slow for logelloop to register as a short press and the others do not meet the requirements you stated above so none of these work. I think my approach will be to put the switch in single mode and make a max patch that sends the note off immediately. I had hoped I could use toggle for the visual feedback it provides but I will survive without it!
Tom WhistonMemberHi Philippe,
What you described is exactly what I am seeing. Unfortunately, it appears that I cannot get a note on/off to be fast enough to get the expected behaviour. I suspect this is because I’m having to convert the cc from my footpedal into notes for logelloop (please see: https://www.logelloop.com/forums/topic/midi-latching/ for more info).
I suppose that this need to differentiate between long and short presses also means that it would not be possible to have a ‘latched’ record mode? so that a pedal can show the record state with an LED (also as per the discussion in my other post)Tom WhistonMemberHi Philippe, Just to follow on from this I was diving into the new update and I realized that with my midi foot controller I cannot actually control korpus because it only accepts note inputs for commands. The footswitch I have (https://line6.com/foot-controllers/fbv-shortboard-mkii) only outputs cc and program change messages. Why does the distinction between commands and controls exist? Surely a cc with a value of 127 is essentially the same as a note (and a 0 is the same as an off message, to fulfil the latching behaviour we discussed above). Would it be possible to allow korpus midi control to work with cc’s as well as notes?
Tom WhistonMemberThanks very much, I appreciate the response and the willingness to add new features 🙂 I actually did try this out with my line6 FBV shortboard mkII foot controller as well when I was initially testing logelloop but because that also has the LED lights and latching features I found myself in the same position.
I’m using an old bcf2000 currently (though I have a lot of other controllers too this one seems the best for my plans) but I’m considering the upgrade to a behringer x-touch compact. I think it’s a bit of a shame that these controllers have not all implemented OSC I/O though!
